Project Description

Cavern Diver

The Cavern Diver course takes you from the open water into the exciting realm of overhead diving. If you have been diving on a shipwreck before you might have some idea of what it is all about, but nothing compares to submerged caverns and caves.

Inside you can find marine life, often of the type that you only see in these environments, others taking shelter from open water. You also get a peek through a window into our past. Caverns are often the first chamber, or light zone, of larger more complex cave networks. Some of these were above the waterline long ago, and now hide many secrets, this is your chance to gain entry to some very exclusive museums.

Cavern Diver is also the foundation course for budding cave divers, the skills you learn at this level carry forward into later training for deeper penetration.

1. The planning, organization procedures, techniques, problems, and hazards of cavern diving

2. Special equipment considerations including, but not limited to: lighting, guidelines, reel handling and redundant breathing systems

3. Proper body position and buoyancy control, air-consumption management and emergency procedures

4. Information that describes the specific hazards of cavern diving should include, but not be limited to: silting, line entanglement and breakage, disorientation from permanent lines and emergency situations unique to cavern diving

Before attending the course students are required to have a medical screening by a licensed physician, you will need to present the course director a signed medical clearance form before any training.

You need to to be 18 years or older, and you will need to have at least and advanced open water certification or equivalent.

Your course includes all required material, there are no formal materials for this program, however we can send advance copies of materials presented in class for study if needed.

The cost of the cavern diver course is 20,000 PHP, this includes training and certification. Use of your own equipment is highly recommended, if you do need rental equipment please let us know in advance.

We have a limited number of twin bed fan dormitory rooms for 2500 PHP per person, per week. These come with a kitchenette and bathroom, simple backpacker style.

If you prefer something else we work with a number of local resorts and hotels, or you might like to check services like,  AirBNB we can help with local information if needed.

A typical hotel room starts from 1500 per night and up, the average would be around 2000 PHP. A typical self service monthly rental room or studio from 10,000 PHP and up, the average around 15000 PHP per month.

Contact the Course Director as early as possible, we can only accept a limited number of students on to each program, it is wise to book your preferred date in advance.
