Project Description

PADI Tec 50

The PADI Tec 50 course completes this level of diving, and provides the foundation for Trimix diving. This program draws on previously learned skills, adds additional breathing gases for decompression, and uses accelerated decompression strategies.

As the course name indicates, you will be trained to dive to depths up to 50 meters, and employ planned decompression strategies, with multiple gas switches, to reach the surface.

This is a four dive course, with several classroom based workshops, that typically runs over four days. Use of your own equipment is advantageous, workshops address proper gear configuration.

Course goals are described as;

  1. To train the diver in the motor skills required for open circuit tec diving.
  2. To assure the diver understands, acknowledges and accepts the hazards and risks involved with technical deep diving with open circuit scuba to 50 meters, as well as the limits of training.
  3. To refine technical diving skills from previous training, and introduce more gas switches, tank management, and technical rescue.

Topics covered are;

  • Accelerated Decompression
  • Decompression theory
  • Decompression strategies
  • Tables and software
  • Equipment type and configuration
  • Physiology
  • Psychology
  • Emergency Procedures

Topics are revisited and elaborated on, for each level of diver training

Before attending the course students are required to have a medical screening by a licensed physician, you will need to present the course director a signed medical clearance form before any training.

Participant prerequisites: Certified as a Tec 45 diver or qualifying certification from another training organization. For the purposes of this level, a qualifying technical certification is one that qualifies the student to make decompression dives to 45 meters using air, EANx and oxygen using
open circuit scuba equipment. Be at least 18 years old, have 100 or more logged dives (20 deeper than 18 meters using EANx, at least 15 deeper than 30 meters).

You will need a copy of the Tec Deep diver CD Rom (PDF), the paper manual has been discontinued, however you may print the PDF if you prefer a hard copy. Materials can be sent ahead, early study is highly recommended, you will also be given a list of suggest additional reading.

The course cost is 22,000 PHP, this includes all dives and equipment, however we strongly recommend using your own gear, part of the course includes a configuration workshop, having your own kit is a big advantage.

The materials are sold separately at 3500 PHP, this is necessary as they cover you for Tec 40, 45 and 50. Once we confirm your course, we can send your materials to you.

We have a limited number of twin bed fan dormitory rooms for 2500 PHP per person, per week. These come with a kitchenette and bathroom, simple backpacker style.

If you prefer something else we work with a number of local resorts and hotels, or you might like to check services like,  AirBNB we can help with local information if needed.

A typical hotel room starts from 1500 per night and up, the average would be around 2000 PHP. A typical self service monthly rental room or studio from 10,000 PHP and up, the average around 15000 PHP per month.

See here for more information on accommodation.

Contact the Course Director as early as possible, we can only accept a limited number of students on to each program, it is wise to book your preferred date in advance.

Please provide as much of the following information as possible when you book.

Total number of dives you have done
Number of dives you have done on Nitrox
Number of dives you have done between 18 and 30 meters (or deeper)
How long you have been diving
Any significant gaps in your diving
What equipment you will need
