PADI Tec 40
The PADI Tec 40 course bridges the gap between recreational and Technical diving in terms of depth, decompression strategy and equipment. You will learn how to equip and prepare yourself for a technical dive, the motor skills to make needed, how to look after yourself, and your team, if things do not go to plan.
This course can be completed in your choice of back, or sidemount. It is comprised of classroom based equipment and dive planning workshops, instructor presentations, shallow water skill dives, and deep water decompression dives. It typically runs over four full days.
Course goals are described as;
- To train the diver in the motor skills required for open circuit tec diving.
- To assure the diver understands, acknowledges and accepts the hazards and risks involved with technical deep diving with open circuit scuba to 40 meters, as well as the limits of training.
- To provide the foundational skills for technical diving.
Topics covered are;
- Decompression theory
- Decompression strategies
- Tables and software
- Equipment type and configuration
- Emergency Procedures
Topics are revisited and elaborated on, for each level of diver training
Before attending the course students are required to have a medical screening by a licensed physician, you will need to present the course director a signed medical clearance form before any training.
Participant must be certified as a Advanced Open Water Diver, Enriched Air Diver, Deep Diver (or proof of 10 dives to 30 meters), 18 years old, 30 or more logged dives (10 with EANx, 7 deeper than 30 meters).
You will need a copy of the Tec Deep diver CD Rom (PDF), the paper manual has been discontinued, however you may print the PDF if you prefer a hard copy. Materials can be sent ahead, early study is highly recommended, you will also be given a list of suggest additional reading.
The course cost is 22,000 PHP, this includes all dives and equipment, however we strongly recommend using your own gear, part of the course includes a configuration workshop, having your own kit is a big advantage.
The materials are sold separately at 3500 PHP, this is necessary as they cover you for Tec 40, 45 and 50. Once we confirm your course, we can send your materials to you.
We have a limited number of twin bed fan dormitory rooms for 2500 PHP per person, per week. These come with a kitchenette and bathroom, simple backpacker style.
