PADI IDC Staff Instructor Course
IDC Staff Instructors are essential to the success of PADI Instructor Development Courses, amongst other tasks Staff Instructors can independently teach and certify PADI Assistant Instructors at dive center or resorts that are at a minimum PADI Five Star Dive Center or Resorts, conduct IDC segments training segments while a PADI Course Director is available on-premises for consultation, evaluate and critique instructor candidate knowledge development, confined water and open water teaching presentations, provide counseling and remedial training for instructor candidates and IDC Staff Instructor candidates, assist with instructor-level continuing education programs, such as PADI Specialty Instructor Training courses, observe the orientation and closing sessions of PADI Instructor Examinations. The IDC Staff Instructor certification also puts you on the path for PADI Master Instructor, and the chance to attend the PADI Course Director Training Course.

There are two paths to becoming a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, the one which we recommend requires you to audit an entire IDC, during your time with us you will get so see the IDC from a different perspective, you will be treated as an assistant to the Course Director, and gain insights into the structure of an IDC, creating effective goals for candidates and debriefing them. After some development sessions, you will be asked to provide some demonstrations in the classroom and confined water, to a level expected of a staff instructor. The second option is to conduct an entire Assistant Instructor course (real or staged), whilst this will earn the same qualification as a candidate auditing an IDC, you will not get as much exposure to students in training, we do consider this option a compromise.
In order to sign up for this course, you must be a teaching status PADI Instructor for the current year, be a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer, be an Emergency First Response Instructor, agree to conduct all levels of diver training consistent with the standards and philosophy outlined in the PADI Instructor Manual, PADI’s Guide to Teaching and the PADI Course Director Manual, agree to use the PADI System and its components in their entirety, and have an up to date medical for diving.
